Position Specific Description

Nextera Energy is looking for a Property Tax Project Manager to join our Tax team located in Juno Beach, Florida. This role will be responsible for activities regarding tax research, planning, forecasting, audit defense and compliance as required by the organization. Works to lawfully optimize the tax obligation of the organization. Assures that all appropriate tax returns and payments are filed in a timely manner. Fills the role of initial contact with Federal, State & Local agencies in the execution of the duties of the position. This role is responsible for managing all work flow related to the property tax area. This includes interfacing with internal & external customers/agencies on questions of audits, contract language, and interpretation of existing law and administration of all sales tax software. Results will be achieved by managing/leading a staff of trained professionals.

Understands/applies laws and case law related to property tax

Demonstrates advanced technical proficiency in all aspects of property tax; appraisals, negotiations, appeals, compliance, legislative support

Understands regulatory perspective, industry trends and events

Ability to operate under pressure and deliver results under tight deadlines

Advanced knowledge of the computer systems we utilize

Able to develop and execute an annual business plan to deliver on strategic imperatives of the business

Job Overview

Employees in this position are responsible for one or more of the following: tax research, planning, forecasting, analysis, and defense of tax positions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Manages tax related projects, including system maintenance and/or development

Prepares and/or reviews tax returns and corresponding tax work papers and files

Researches law, regulations, administrative rulings and court cases and presents proposals to lawfully minimize tax liability

Researches and drafts responses to inquiries from government agencies regarding tax filings, and other claims

Provides and/or verifies tax assumptions and tax results in project models

Leads project teams to improve quality, efficiency, predictability and/or transparency

Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelors Degree

Experience: 6 years

Preferred Qualifications

Masters – Accounting / Finance

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
