Forklift Operator

Aerotek

Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

Operators will be asked to do anything and everything in the warehouse to make sure customer orders are filled and out for delivery in a timely manner. Theyll also be tasked with general cleaning of the plant, washing of hoses, washing out of large totes, washing drums, disposing of drums, etc. This job is essentially a material handler, and the material being moved is liquid chemicals that are used for water treatment. The chemicals are listed in the work environment of the req. They do mix solid & liquid chemicals in this plant, but that is a cross train down the road not the primary function of this job.

Primary Duties:

These operators will take direction from the shift manager on what orders need to be filled, fill those orders (fill tote or drums with liquid), stage them at the dock (2 dock doors), and load trucks when they arrive. Once the orders for the day are done, operators will need to clean hoses used for filling totes with liquid chemicals, tidy up around the warehouse, and clean drums as needed. Theyll use electronic pallet jack & sit-down forklift to move the finished totes or palletized drums and stage them in labeled rows corresponding with each truck that comes in that day. As product is moved the operator will be responsible for filling out paperwork accurately including process conditions, test results, instrument readings, and shipping paperwork.

Secondary Duties:

Operators will spend a lot of time in the lot washing out used totes, disposing of used totes, cutting down and washing trashed drums, etc. There is a large backlog of this work that has built up because order volume has gone up so high. It is a top priority to get this work done and there is no doubt that new hires will spend a lot of time doing this work until the backlog is cleared. Once done, this will become a smaller part of the daily duties as needed.
