Job Description
The HHS, Division of Family Well-Being & Protection, Child Protective Services, is seeking a Quality Assurance Coordinator.
Summary:
This works as a team member to identify process improvement opportunities; apply continuous improvement (Lean) strategies; implement action plans; and monitor to determine effectiveness of strategies or changes needed to improve effectiveness of strategies. This involves promoting the benefits of a continuous improvement culture through educating staff on the principles of continuous improvement and providing technical assistance in the application of those principles. As a member of the Quality Improvement Bureau team, this position will also facilitate improvement workgroups statewide, as needed.
In addition, this position will: participate in case reviews relating to federal expectations, goal achievement, and continuous improvement; complete reports in formats easily understood by the target audience; analyze data and determine root causes; and communicate with staff across the state. While this position may have a geographic or programmatic focus, it functions as a member of the Quality Improvement Bureau team and provides back up and support to co-workers across the state as needed.

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in social work or human service field, such as public health, psychology, public administration or a related field.
Experience in Lean/Kaizen methods, or quality assurance or continuous quality improvement, and/or total quality management.
Experience in developing performance goals/targets, benchmarking, developing and monitoring PDCAs, setting priorities, and performance standards applicable to agency programs and services.
Basic Purpose of this position:
The mission of Quality Assurance and Improvement (QA&I) is to help ensure that services are delivered in a quality, appropriate, safe, respectful, and cost-effective manner that are focused on achieving results for the children and families served. The QA&I system is an agency-wide effort that regularly evaluates the quality of services, identifies strengths and needs of its operations, provides relevant reports, and evaluates program improvement measures implemented. The QA&I system includes specific activities that are done at a statewide level, which cut across service areas and agency divisions, as well as activities that are performed at the service area and/or institution level.
The position’s main focus is on finding efficient ways to monitor the work process of the agency, and the results and products resulting, and supporting overall culture of continuous improvement. The position will also participate as a part of the QI team responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a broad range of quality improvement projects in other service areas and work areas across the agency. This position works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and experience equal to two years of fulltime work experience in quality assurance, quality improvement, or total quality management;
OR
an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting one year of the required experience for each 30 semester hours or one year of the required education to a maximum of four years.
