OIN OUR TEAM AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!“Action Inc is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending poverty in Southwest Montana by developing innovative, community-based, collaborative approaches.”Through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the organization, the purpose of the General Laborer position is to improve the energy efficiency of residential properties by installing insulation (cellulose, fiberglass and spray foam insulation) air sealing, ductwork sealing, and related home energy solutions in residential homes. As a member of the weatherization crew, team members must be detail oriented and manage all elements of single or multi-day weatherization jobs, interacting with homeowners, insuring quality of all work performed. The Weatherization Program is responsible for weatherization of residential homes by providing energy efficiency retrofits, air sealing, and insulation services to low-income homes in Southwestern Montana areas.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The successful candidate must:Be safety conscious.Have good customer service skills, public relations and communications skills, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, the general public and other agencies; communicate effectively.Possess knowledge and experience of residential construction and insulation systems.Have the ability to operate power tools safely.Have the ability to wear a respirator for extended periods of time, up to 75% of the time depending on the assigned job, as well as pass a FIT test with a respirator provided by Employer.The physical ability to climb ladders, be in confined spaces, and work in all types of weather conditions.Have the ability to lift at least 25 pounds frequently, and at least 50 pounds occasionally.Have the ability to apply insulation materials to attics, crawl spaces, basements and walls.Have the ability to understand and comply with weatherization and industry standards & conservation measures.Have the ability to perform basic math and measurements.Be adaptable to a constantly changing atmosphere and have the ability to adjust and prioritize various duties and assignments.Be compassionate toward the persons we serve, always maintaining a mission driven frame of mind and exercising our core values while interacting with our clients and co-workers.Have the ability to independently and with direction maintain a sense of urgency while always attending to safety precautions.Have the ability to be coached in the moment while responding positively and recognizing the same as coaching and not criticism.Be a team player with the ability and willingness to work with a wide range of individuals and personalities.RequirementsDesired Qualifications: The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school or trade program and weatherization/construction experience involving installation of residential weatherization and insulation materials. Ability to operate power tools, have knowledge and understanding of residential construction and insulation systems. Other combinations of education and experience that could obtain the above knowledge, skills and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid driver license and be insurable.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift: stand: walk; use hands to finger handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and wear a respirator for extended periods of time while maintaining adequate work speed and productivity. Frequent crouching, crawling, kneeling, standing, climbing ladders, lifting, the ability to be in confined spaces and work in all weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
