POSITION SUMMARY: This role is responsible for national oversight of transport operations and programs enabling and supporting ~ $650 million of Transport VDE and related freight spend. There are multiple divisions, a large number of lanes across multiple temperature zones, and all modes of shipment. This includes alignment with distribution, shared services and all Nestle business owners. The position supports opportunity on intiatives for alignment within the NIM structure, NCE initiatives and S.H.E. initiatives as they relate to the NUSA transport org, supply chain and with 3rd Party vendors (transport carriers). This role supports and implements transport carrier and operations sourcing strategies, transportation mode and network optimization, and methods to improve transport and supply chain On-Time metrics while meeting budget targets. Role ensures direct reports and suppliers engage in ethical negotiations for services following Nestle guidelines. Drives, recruitment and development of a best in class team of transportation staff skilled in transport and supply chain operations, continuous improvement, project management, and providing solutions to complex issues and problems. Drives relationship and savings innovations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and administer transportation operations and strategies in the areas of transportation/ logistics operations, carrier sourcing, selection, execution planning, implementation of successful route guides, and lead a team of transportation operations specialists to attain these objectives.
Provide leadership to develop staff, organizational and capabilities needs, working in tandem with human resources and L&OD. Coach direct reports to improve skills in the Nestle Leadership Principles. Drive team development in personal and business partnerships while exploring innovative techniques to drive value and service. Fully support other bullet points in this description.
Collaborate and support the Nestle in the Market Logistics team, global teams and other operating companies in North America to fully take advantage of Nestlé’s combined critical mass to drive additional value, cost savings and service improvements, sharing synergies, ideas/best practices and benchmarking internal and industry issues. Proven ability to drive change.
Develop and or support cost savings projects in conjunction with logistics operations, finance and Heads of supply chains to meet yearly financial goals and NCE alignment. Supports sourcing and ensures rates are within benchmark targets and lead team to close any gaps.
Stay abreast of market and regulatory changes and impacts and advises logistics leadership and Government relations of impact to Nestle. Represent NUSA at industry groups and network with other food shippers supporting benchmarking and continuous improvement actions. Keep personnel informed of transport industry issues, challenges & trends.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
10 years of relevant transportation/logistics, operations, procurement or negotiating experience preferred in a high volume, complex, consumer packaged goods environment. Knowledge of transportation and transportation related systems.
Experience in Transportation programs such as: Lean Logistics, I2 Freight Matrix, Ariba and SAP a plus.
SKILLS:
Highly developed communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
Ability to interact in a positive manner along with highly developed customer focus and vendor management skills.
Requires strong analytical, financial, judgment and decision-making skills along as well as adept negotiating skills and ability to drive a continuous improvement emphasis.
Prior proven success in transportation operations and strong leadership and motivation skills. Ability to work through ambiguous situations and provide a clear, concise solution.
