Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial (Hybrid in KC)

This Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial will provide hands on legal support and counsel for and work with business leaders, managers, and colleagues on key legal and/or compliance issues.
How you will spend your time:
Identify and analyze legal issues.
Develop and implement solutions to complex business and legal challenges.
Present business centric recommendations, assure legal compliance, advocacy and analysis, evaluate and minimize risk.
Advises and counsels line of business on key legal issues related to commercial lending and banking matters.
Review, negotiate and draft agreements. Heavy emphasis on documentation which supports the bank’s commercial lending activities, including loan documentation, loan participation agreements, and loan portfolio management.
Work with outside counsel to negotiate loan documentation and advise clients regarding risk items which arise during a transaction’s life cycle.
Participate in projects and process improvements.
Prepare and distribute regular status reports.
Summarize trends and issues, resolve customer matters, as well as support in alternative decision-making situations, to the Company, its bank and financial services subsidiaries, and a broad range of internal clients.
Provides legal advice and performs legal research on various complex legal and regulatory issues.
Collaborates with different lines of businesses and corporate support functions to ensure that operations and strategies are managed in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
Develop in depth substantive knowledge of his/her respective clients’ products and services, and the operating relationships that the business unit has with its significant business clients.
Will and must be a trusted advisor to senior leaders and will be the primary consultant with clients on legal issues.
Monitors and analyzes evolving legal requirements and proposed regulations/legislation in assigned practice areas and advises senior management of potential risks associated with new developments.
Manages outside counsel and acts as a liaison between senior leaders and outside counsel.
Review and approve legal billing submitted by outside counsel, work with line of business to coordinate customer reimbursement.

We’re excited to talk with you if you have:
JD and licensed to practice law 8 years of commercial, legal experience. Preference for at least 10 years commercial lending experience.
Experience in subscription line of credit or other investment fund lending.
Strong leadership and teaming capabilities and the ability to operate independently and collaboratively.
Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and written and verbal communication skills.
Strong working knowledge of legal issues in assigned areas.
Strong skills in relationship building, critical thinking, strategic vision, and ability to mitigate risk in decision making.
Compensation Range:
Minimum: $124,690.00 – Maximum: $321,830.00
