Job Description:
100% – Regular Lecturer Duties:
Teach and/or develop a specified number of undergraduate/graduate courses per semester for the Biotechnology program.
Common examples of courses for which lecturers would be needed (but not limited to):BTEC 341- Principles of Bioprocessing Laboratory IBTEC 460- Introduction to Quality Control/Quality Assurance in BiotechnologyBTEC 542- Protein Expression in Insect CellsBTEC 630- Biotechnology, Regulation, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance.
Prepare for and attend all class meetings. In case of absence, the lecturer must make arrangements for a substitute.
Identify needed reagents and equipment, ensure adequate supplies levels are maintained for assigned class, communicate ordering needs to the Biotechnology Program Director.
Develop assignments, administer tests, evaluate student work, provide timely feedback to students, and assign grades.
Hold regular office hours for students involved in classes taught.
Be available for reasonable scheduling of appointments if a student cannot meet during scheduled office hours.
Adhere to all Departmental, School of Professional Studies, and University policies.
Lecturers may work with Program Director to determine format and schedule for course(s). Courses may be cotaught with other appointed Lecturers under circumstances requiring diverse expertise.

Position Overview:
The University of Kansas Edwards Campus and the Biotechnology Department invite qualified scholars and professionals to apply for a regular lecturer position. Lecturers are untenured, non-tenure-track members of the faculty. Positions vary and are dependent upon the need, if any, each semester for development and/or instruction of course(s). Primary role is instruction, with no obligations to perform research or service. The appointment dates will vary based on the type of lecturer appointment and the timeframe for the preparation and instruction of the course(s).
A successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins. Any employment with the University of Kansas is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check. Appointments are one semester, renewable and subject to review, funding, and adequate student enrollment.
