This Emergency Department Tech Assistant position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of primary health care, emergency health care, patient care management, assisting the healthcare team in coordinating, prioritizing and communicating patient, physician and staff needs.

This ED Tech role includes preparing patients and performing EKG tests, as well as providing wound care, documenting vital signs and collects lab samples. This position also includes cleaning, inspecting, and setting up emergency rooms, carts, and equipment.

Qualifications:

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified ED Tech candidates will need the following:

One year of CNA or EMT experience required

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

Basic computer skills

High School diploma or GED required

Graduate of a Nursing Assistant Program or EMT Program

CNA or EMT license required

BLS from the American Heart Association required

EKG Certification preferred

Physical Requirements – Medium Work – (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

Schedule: PRN (variable)

The Emergency Department at St. Catherine Hospital has 14 beds including 7 bed Fast Track. We treat all ED patients and also do outpatient care in the afternoons as needed. Here, we see traumas, chest pain, strokes, sepsis and all other medical patients. Our mission is to treat others how you would like to be treated. This is a desirable department since we have a set schedule, are rural and tend to get some very interesting cases. We have a behavioral health inpatient unit and take care of a lot of behavioral health patients. In our department, we look for dependable team players.
