[Description of Work
[Supervise, plan and coordinate the activities and operations of the city cemetery. Develop, organize, and direct the planning, operation, and maintenance of the municipal cemetery; coordinate activities with other departments and outside agencies; and provide responsible and complex administrative support to the Parks and Recreation Director.

[Qualifications
[A high school diploma or equivalent plus three years of increasingly responsible experience in cemetery operations or closely related field including one year of lead or supervisory responsibility.

– Possession of a valid drivers license with endorsement. (CDL must be obtained within one year of employment).
– Possession of herbicide applicators license. (must be obtained within one year of employment)

[ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

– Select, train, motivate and evaluate personnel; establish and monitor employee performance objectives; evaluate employee performance; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures; recommend and implement employment terminations.
– Prepare work schedules according to work priorities, crew or equipment availability or weather conditions and expedite workflow; study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
– Inspect and verify work in progress and completed work of assigned employees and contractors for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards, specifications and contract requirements.
– Monitor project activities to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules are maintained.
– Train workers in tasks such as safe operation of equipment, caring for grounds, roadways, turf and plantings, monuments and markers.
– Establish and enforce operating procedures and work standards that will ensure adequate performance and personnel safety.
– Schedule, supervise and participate in the operation, maintenance and repair of cemetery equipment, vehicles and structures.

– Assure that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget; perform cost control activities; monitor revenues and expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control
– Prepare annual budget requests including capital outlay requests; assure effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities and time; participate in the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; administer the approved budget.
– Process invoices for payment; collect all funds from lot sales and submit monthly deposit.
