Open Plains Transit seeksIntercityTransit Drivers. Hired individuals will be required to reside in the Alliance and Gordon, NEareas, perform a variety of routine driving and transportationassociated responsibilitiesinvolving the safe and efficient operation of intercity bus transportation and promotion of services to the general public of all ages. Driversreturn todepot origin(s) each day, duties do not include overnight layovers in other communities.Hourly pay range is $18.00-$19.00 (during training)to $22.00DOQ, to start.A conditional employment offer will include successful drug screening, a motor vehicle records check, and extensive background checks. A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is not required. On-call paymay be associated with this position. Safety, reliability and customer service driven philosophies are a must.
Very early- mid-morning, early morning to mid-day, mid-day to very early evening shift coverage needed.
Intercity bus drivers transport passengers between cities or towns, sometimes crossing state lines. They may travel between distant cities or between towns only a few miles apart. Follow a planned route according to a time schedule. They usually pick up and off passengers at designated locations. Increasingly, intercity buses are using curbside locations in predetermined areas instead of stations.
Intercity drivers typically do the following: Obey traffic laws and state and federal transit regulations Follow procedures to make sure they and all passengers are safe Ensure all passengers have a valid ticket to ride the bus May sell tickets to passengers when there are unsold seats available Help passengers load or unload baggage Watch traffic and people carefully to ensure the safety of passengers getting on and off the bus Keep passengers informed of possible delays Keep track of when and at what stops passengers get on or off the bus Follow a central dispatchers instruction when taking an alternate route Account for all passengers before leaving a location Keep order and safety on the bus Keep in open communication with the Scheduling Team as directed Follow constructive supervisory direction at all times
Additional Duties - Pre-Trip Inspections; Check the bus tires, lights, and oil and do other basic maintenance Keep the interior and exteriors of vehicles clean and presentable to the public in all weather conditions Some transit agencies may require bus drivers to submit traffic data for analysis
