Position Summary…

What youll do…

As a Staff Software Engineer, youll spend your days translating requirements into solutions, writing code, reusable components and services, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. Youll oversee multiple project teams consisting of other engineers who will look to you as a trusted advisor, a subject matter expert who provides guidance and the right tools to get the job done.

Prototype Development : Design and develop a comprehensive tech architecture for next-generation consumer-facing digital products, covering both front-end (UX/UI, mobile apps, APIs) and back-end (systems, databases) components, and scale them to production.

Integration Planning : Develop an initial architecture/system that is compatible with, or can be easily integrated into, Walmarts and its partners systems by understanding existing tech infrastructures.

Rapid Prototyping : Quickly build a product prototype for initial testing by collaborating with data engineers, data scientists, product managers, UX designers, and business stakeholders.

Technical Collaboration : Collaborate with Product Management and business teams to lead the technical discovery, design, and implementation of large-scale platforms and products.

Iterative Development : Continuously iterate on the prototype through market testing, evolving it into a product ready for scale. Regularly review code and fix product bugs.

Vendor Management : Manage vendors to accelerate product development, provide technical guidance, and evaluate the quality of their work.

Feasibility Analysis : Explore technical feasibility trade-offs (e.g., design for scalability, performance, reliability) and make informed decisions by balancing business needs, product requirements, UX/UI, and technical optimization.

Architecture Refinement : Refine and improve the prototype architecture and roadmap for scaling.

About the Team:

Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,200 retail units, operating in 23 countries such as Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Mexico and South Africa to name a few.

What youll bring:

Industry Knowledge: Possess in-depth knowledge of industry best practices, technologies, architectures, and emerging technologies.

Technical Expertise: Demonstrate strong design and coding experience in Java, Object-Oriented Programming, Spring Boot, SQL (RDBMS), NoSQL (Cassandra), Kafka, Spring, and Elasticsearch.

Agile Methodology: Have a strong understanding of Agile methodology and leverage SDLC tools to improve development and testing efficiency (JIRA, Jenkins, GIT, JUnit, Selenium, Lint).

Distributed Systems: Experience in building secure, highly available, resilient, scalable distributed systems leveraging clustering and load balancing of web servers, app servers, and messaging systems.

Web Development: Exposure to web development and modern JavaScript frameworks is a strong plus (JavaScript, HTML5, Angular, or ReactJS).

A rchitectural Solutions: Identify short- and long-term solutions and timelines; review and approve proposed solutions, implement new architectural patterns, and perform design and code reviews of changes.

Business Support and Solutions Implementation : Address user questions, identify solutions, and provide guidance on system changes. Partner with stakeholders to implement business solutions, execute processes, and adapt to changes.

Issue Troubleshooting: Resolve business and production issues by gathering information, conducting root cause analysis, developing and executing action plans, and completing documentation.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
