Summary

The Manager, Technical Training leads the design and delivery of Kodiak’s technical training programs. Working closely with Operations leadership, the Training Manager determines training objectives by identifying specific skill and knowledge gaps. The Training Manager is responsible for reviewing training content and quality, overseeing the training staff, and managing the logistics required to support company-wide technical training activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Maintain thorough industry knowledge, including new equipment and technology requirements to support the Kodiak fleet of compressor equipment (all engine, compressor, panel, and electrical components) and any ESG-regulation-driven updates

Review training programs to ensure that content satisfies needs determined by subject matter experts and functional leaders

Meet with subject matter experts in each function of the organization to understand skill or knowledge gaps that can be addressed through targeted training efforts

Oversee training staff

Regularly attend training classes and complete Trainer Audit & Feedback forms to ensure quality results by each trainer, providing direct feedback to improve trainer skills and class quality

Facilitate performance reviews, counsel employees, and provide feedback on growth

Work with Instructional Designer to ensure content created addresses skill gaps and new classes are developed, as needed

Work with Training Coordinator regarding the scheduling of all technical training, including course, location, date, trainer, and participants

Ensure class occupancy and attendance are at or above targets

Ensure each field office location receives an adequate opportunity to meet their training goals

Some facilitation of training sessions, as needed

Regularly review training KPI metrics, analyze results, and report to function leadership

Proven ability to complete full training cycle, from assessing need through training execution

Manages the execution of Training department goals and projects to meet target deadlines while adhering to approved budgets

Maintain influential relationships with all departments and functions within the organization, serving as a go-to representative for training and development needs throughout Kodiak

Training Department P&L review and oversight

Education & Certifications

High school diploma required

Bachelor’s degree in education or related discipline preferred

Work Experience

5-10 years of experience in gas compression Operations

5 years proven experience as a technical trainer in the gas compression industry

Experience developing technical training course content required

Skills & Abilities

Understanding of Adult Learning principles preferred

Professionalism and ability to relate to and effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experience levels

Strong leadership and mentoring skills

Flexibility and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

Understanding of an oilfield service organization preferred

Excellent organization and time-management skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Expertise in learning management tools, with Learning Management System (LMS) experience (Workday Learning preferred)

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Solid management skills, including oversight of training programs and personnel

Physical Demands

Required to sit for long periods of time as needed

Some periods of time may be spent in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold, walking on uneven surfaces, and standing for long periods of time as needed

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer components

Up to 30% travel required

Must be able to work long or irregular hours
