Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: Greenwood Village, CO
CLP Engineering (CLPE) is a full-service electric utility solutions
engineering firm with more than twenty years experience in electrical
utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our
sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power
system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative,
government, industrial, and commercial customers.
We are growing our engineering teams and seeking a motivated Senior Electrical
Engineer with a PE license and 8 years of engineering/utility Industry
experience to join us.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Design sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and
complex commercial/industrial power distribution systems.
Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis,
and engineering estimates for small-scale system improvement projects for
substations and distribution systems.
Develop/review complex electrical system models and validate various system
study findings/recommendations.
Develop electrical specifications for major electrical apparatus.
Create system model for large-scale power system in ETAP (or similar
software) and perform various power system analysis/studies.
Develop bill of material and technical specifications for various electrical
projects. Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customer,
subcontractor, and construction personnel to understand and determine
project requirements.
Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation.
Possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles,
practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power distribution
systems.
Update and maintain GIS database for large-scale electrical distribution
systems.
Perform site surveys for major upgrade projects, develop concept design,
and present the design to CLPE Management and the customer.
Prepare cost estimates for large-scale electric distribution and substation
projects.
Keep up to date with utility industry standards and codes. Enforce and
maintain all applicable standards and codes for our O&M,
replacement/renewable and new installations.
Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, system loading
scenarios and assist crew to implement corrective actions.
Participate in estimate review process with internal and external
stakeholders.
Assist construction personnel throughout the project life cycle in tracking
and understanding basis of cost estimate.
Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance and support to help them grow in
their professional careers.
Project management: prepare construction schedules; submit RFI to
clients; act as POC for facilitating design review process and addressing
open items as requested by clients.

Travel: Up to 20% to client sites as needed
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Hybrid work schedule is possible
with in-office work expected on Wednesdays and Thursdays when not traveling.
Skills and Qualifications:
BS degree, Electrical Engineering, from accredited university with
emphasis in power systems required.
PE License required.
Eight plus (8) years of work experience in electrical utility industry.
Solid background with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution
systems.
Expert with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and
protective device coordination.
Experienced working with blueprints, specifications and proposals for
preparation of time/cost/labor estimates.
Must be a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Other Requirements:
You must be a U.S. citizen.
Valid drivers license required.
Ability to travel out of state to project sites.
You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
Benefits & C mpensation:
We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance,
dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid
time off and paid holidays.
Salary range: $130,000-$165,000 based on experience plus eligible to
participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
