Job Description:The Critical Care Technician functions as a clinical support
partner in the Critical Care and Emergency Department settings. They assist
the patient care team in the performance of various tasks and procedures for
the critically ill patient or patients requiring special skills or
observation. Act under the direction and supervision of appropriate clinical
licensed personnel.
Scope
Obtains patients vital signs to include blood pressure, pulse and
temperature and understands normal ranges and changes. Informs RNs or
Physician of changes in vital signs.
Collects blood, urine, saliva and stool samples for laboratory analysis.
Inserts Foley catheters, performs straight catheters, provides wound care.
Fits patients for casts and/or hard splints, crutches and other devices.
Performs 12-lead EKGs.
Provides instruments to doctors and nurses as they perform procedures on
patients.
Assists with the safe movement of patients, applying principles of safe
patient handling.
Assists with admitting patients into the ER, schedules patient transfers,
reinforces patient education/discharge instructions as given by the RN.
Apply, check and document restraints as directed by the RN or Physician.
Performs the duties of unit secretary. Maintains patient charts, responds to
phone calls, maintains daily assignment board, provides equipment
care/cleaning, performs errands associated with patient care and provides
accurate information about the patient with interdisciplinary team.

Demonstrates and adheres to the standards of infection prevention.
Performs other duties as assigned.
May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency
and qualifications) based on business need.
Follows principals and upholds the Standards of Infection Prevention.
May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Completion of Basic EMT training program or Paramedic Training is required in
the state of practice
Current Basic EMT or Paramedic license in state of practice is required
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
(BLS- HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with
prior approval
Current IV Certification in state of practice is required… Colorado State.

One (1) year of related experience

Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business

Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work nights and/or
weekends is required for identified positions.
Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and read
information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify
equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care
providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally
communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms,
needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency
situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex
and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent
computer us and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed
information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and
utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to
retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items
of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and
assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing
supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable
equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and
busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and
-May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of
