Position Announcement

 

Utah Valley University is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented part-time Catering Server Specialist to join our dynamic team! As a Catering Server Specialist, youll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of breakfast, lunch, and dinner events by providing excellent food service to our patrons. Youll be responsible for service set-up, guest service, and clean-up, following clear guidelines and instructions. This role offers a hands-on, team-oriented environment with immediate supervision, making it a great opportunity to gain experience in hospitality and event services while contributing to UVUs vibrant community.

 

Summary of Responsibilities

 

• CUSTOMER SERVICE

 

• This position tends to guests, and greets them when they enter and exit the Events.

• Takes plated meals and serves buffets for receptions and banquets, as well as delivers meals and amenities to designated drop-off locations.

• Clears all used service ware after every event, and resets for the next events.

 

• OPERATIONS

 

• Responsible for the set up of the dining room, which includes polishing the silver ware, china, and glass ware.

• Sets tables and chairs for service.

• Sets all the amenities that go on the table such as salt, pepper, water, butters, bread etc.

• Cleans and organizes dinning room area and auxiliary catering service areas.

• Sets-up beverages fountain or service and cleans them at the end of the shift.

 

• SANITATION

 

• Performs the different shore duties assigned by the manager, which my include: washing service trays, clearing empty bottles from the kitchen, and wiping and organizing the servers working areas.

• Vacuums or mops the dining room and or service areas as needed.

• Takes all utensils, equipment and china to wash area and on occasion assists custodial staff in the clean up and storage of equipment china and small wares.

• Sets coffee service and cleans up coffee maker and related service area at close of event.

• General cleaning and organization of all the working areas and related equipment utilized by the servers for and during service including chairs, tables, floors, carpets windows, and traffic areas.

• Attends to all other duties assigned by Catering captain or Catering Manager.

 

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

 

Graduation with a high school diploma or GED.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of experience in the field or in a related area.

 

Licenses/Certifications:

Must hold an official ID or valid drivers license

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

 

Knowledge

 

• Customer service, table service, and safe service principles.

• Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a catering service practice.

 

Skills

 

• LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

• The candidate must have the ability to read, technical procedures, and/or government regulations and written instructions and manuals.

 

• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

• Ability to read, add, divide and multiply.

• Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
