## Purpose Statement
The job of Instructional Assistant-Computer Science Specialist was established for the purpose of providing computer science instruction using a computer based curriculum under the supervision of a teacher or administrator, with specific responsibility for working with individuals and/or small groups of students, and providing clerical support to teacher/s and staff.
This job reports to Principal
Essential Functions:
• Administers classroom set computer science curriculum assignments, assessments, and activities, etc.
• Assists students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (computer science programs, robotics, etc.)
• Maintains computer science equipment including robots, work area, for the purpose of ensuring availability of items;
and/or meeting mandated requirements.
• Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Works in conjunction with the classroom teacher for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of computer science curriculum.
Other Functions:
• Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the
work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for this position should first have a positive attitude and find joy in working with elementary children. Applicants will be expected to either have 48 college semester credits, have an associates degree, or pass the paraprofessional praxis exam. Experience or degrees in teaching is preferred. All potential employees must pass a background check.
Part-Time position.
Applicant does not need to have prior computer science experience, training on the curriculum will be provided.
