JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Electrician supervises and participates in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repairs of electrical appliances, systems, facilities and related electronic controls of varying design or complexity.

1. Supervises employees and participates in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repair of electrical appliances, systems, facilities, and related electronic controls and devices by interpreting blueprints, manufacturers specifications, and written and verbal instructions.
2. Plans and schedules work to ensure proper distribution of assignments and adequate staffing, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.
3. Assists in the establishment of preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and facilities.
4. Trains and instructs new employees.
5. Prepares reports and analyses indicating work progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
6. Supervises various personnel actions, including hiring, merit recommendations, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at process plant. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. This position is seven days on, seven days off, with 12 hour shifts beginning at 7:00. Shift crews will alternate between days and nights. Additional overtime may be required based on business need.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience
1. High School Diploma
2. Several years of progressive electrical proficiency in a process plant
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Electrician certificate
