Job Description Summary

The Filling and Packaging Technician is responsible for performing required routine bottling, filling, pouching, bagging, labeling packaging and support inventory control processes according to established procedures. He/she must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must also be able to read, understand and complete all packaging documentation including batch records, standard operating procedures, material specifications and material requests among others. He/she must possess strong basic computer and analytical skills. The Filling and Packaging Technician must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly diverse, team-oriented environment. Also performing required routine manufacturing processes for the TruCOUNT and FACSCount area according to established procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Executes Filling & Packaging process by manual and automatic filling (filling/vialing, capping & labeling) and packaging (labeling, bagging, pouching and kitting).

Performs manual and automatic micro-pipetting. Uses analytical scales and other packaging equipment.

Operates and maintains production equipment (semi-automated and automated filling machine, capping, and labeling line). May perform instrument troubleshooting.

Generates labels by operating label printing equipment.

Provides support in revising and/or generating SOP/s or Work instructions as needed.

Performs glass vial 100% visual inspection for debris.

Executes aliquot process for inventory control area and dispatches material as required.

Collect, clean/sanitize and distribute laboratory glassware and plastic ware required for manufacturing and quality departments. Cleaning using glass washer, dryers and sterilizers equipment following the established Standard Operating Procedure or Work Instructions.

Dispatch in a timely manner the components at each production line and/or process as required.

Performs FACSCount and TruCount manufacturing processes including machines operation and set-up, automatic filling/tabbing, packaging (labeling, bagging, pouching and kitting) among other processes as required.

Operates and performs preventive maintenance on production equipment (semi-automated and automated equipment) as required in the TruCOUNT and FACSCount areas.

Performs basic troubleshooting to FACSCount and TruCount equipment as required. Informs Supervisor of any improper usage of equipment.

Maintains logs and required documentation as needed.

Observes and enforces: Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP), safety Regulation, ISO requirements and Company Policies.

Provides feedback for document improvement and changes to the area.

Meets daily/weekly/monthly departmental production objectives efficiently and effectively with a high degree of quality.

Must have ability to independently organize individual schedules to meet departmental goals.

Ability to follow general instructions on routine tasks and detailed instructions on new tasks.

Generates requisitions and replenishes departmental packaging supplies

Manages materials including but not limited to storing, retrieving staging and reconciling inventories as required.

Process packaging data into the SAP system and/or other Production Planning/Manufacturing Resource database system(s).

Follows all department guidelines and procedures.

Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements. Participates as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work. Brings regulatory compliance questions/issues to the attention of management.

Promotes a safe work environment. Provides recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participates in Environmental Health and Safety programs. Addresses corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified. Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.

Actively participates in the Daily Management System by attending, leading shift startup meeting and providing appropriate metrics as required.

Provides recommendations to support systems that continuously improve product/process quality and product availability, reduce cost, and increase production capability.

Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks.

Self-motivated, must have ability to work with minimal supervision.

Knowledge of mechanical equipment and PLC machinery or machine set-up is preferable.

Pipetting skills are preferable.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to read, write and understand Spanish and English.

Proficient learner with new tasks and methods.

Basic knowledge in computer applications, email and office software.

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability and knowledge to perform math calculations and measurement conversions.

Knowledge of GMP, QSR or ISO requirements desirable.

Attendance and punctuality are an essential function of the job position.

Willing to travel to US mainland and offshore.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Requires a technical degree preferably related to the field of science, or a minimum of 6 months of experience working with laboratory equipment such as pipette and analytical balance (academic, research, clinical or manufacturing environment). Or instead, a Bachelor’s degree in the same areas with experience working with laboratory equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Occasionally, the work requires carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling of high-level objects. In addition, occasionally requires sitting, stooping and reaching. Frequently, the job requires handling, talking, hearing and seeing far vision. The job requires constant standing, walking, fingering and seeing (near vision/depth perception/visual color discrimination).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is constantly performed inside the building. The work requires exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold temperatures. Also, the work environment has mechanical equipment and electrical hazards, and atmospheric conditions such as dust.
