Description
This is an on-site position. Candidates local to the greater Seattle/Kirkland, WA area highly desired. Relocation support is not available for this position.
The objective for the Mechanical Engineering Intern will be to work with our engineering team as we develop new electrical power systems products that support AES being a world-recognized leader in aircraft electrical power systems for small to mid-sized business jets, UAV’s and rotorcraft. The key performance objectives for this position are described below.
JOB SUMMARY
Apply your creative ability, engineering skills and judgments into action. Use engineering principles to help create products for the aerospace industry. Work as a member of a team in the planning, implementation and completion of projects using your fundamental mechanical engineering skills.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of experienced engineers, you will be responsible for mechanical engineering activities to support various products and processes. Opportunities may exist in the areas of Product Development/Design, Product Support and Research. Responsibilities may include:
Prototype design solutions (in house 3D printing and benchtop CNC available)
Conduct tests to evaluate hardware solutions
Design product components, or hardware, from detailed concept descriptions
Explore various software tools such as SolidWorks, SolidWorks Flow Sim and ANSYS
Develop hands-on lab skills assembling hardware, environmental testing, and fit checks.
Collaborate with other engineering interns on an intern led project.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
Requires 3 years of college level courses focusing on mechanical engineering with a preference to emphasis on thermal related computational fluid dynamics and or vibrational dynamics.

Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible

Base salary is $28.00 per hour and this position is eligible for holiday pay.
