PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in beautiful Longview, WA is seeking a full time Pathologist with AP/CP board certification/eligibility. Our highly trained team of pathologists work in a fantastic anatomic and clinical laboratory, providing highly effective services for our community. Candidates must be eligible to work in the US and must hold or be able to obtain active Washington State and Oregon State medical licenses. Fellowship trained candidates are highly strongly desired.
Practice highlights:
Join a group of motivated six pathologists with diverse sub-specialty training including hematopathology, dermatopathology, cytopathology, gastrointestinal and hepatic pathology.
Schedule: 1.0 FTE: Full-time: Monday-Friday with call.
Evening Home Call: Two weeks monthly, including weekends, very minimal
Support from two Pathology Assistants, reading a wide variety of cases including GI, GU, GYN, Non-GYN cytology, and Breast.
EPIC EMR, Beaker LIS.

Job Summary
Provides professional services in anatomic and clinical pathology.
Essential Functions
Performs professional services and medical consultations in anatomic and clinical pathology by preparing and submitting accurate and complete written reports and consultations in a timely manner.
Serves as medical director of a lab section(s) as assigned; provides recommendations to the lab director regarding the conduct, quality, level and breadth of services.
Serves as a resource to technical/clerical/medical staff regarding professional and technical issues within the general field of laboratory medicine.
Selects reagents, equipment and supplies in the assigned area of responsibility in collaboration with the section manager.
Participates in planning, development, implementation or assessment of short- and long-term goals and objectives for anatomic and clinical laboratory services.
Maintains professional skills by participating in medical and scientific activities, including continuing medical education and clinical research activities.
Participates in medical staff activities, including complying with medical staff bylaws and serving on medical staff committees.
May perform CAP (College of American Pathologists) compliance duties to include: periodic record reviews; equipment and test validation; development and maintenance of policy, procedure and guidance documents; proficiency testing and competency management; CAP inspection preparation, assessment and follow up; and technical and procedural advisement and referral.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Accredited School Required: Medical.
Accredited Program Required: Anatomic/Clinical Pathology.
Credentials
Required : American Society of Clinical Pathologists Board of Governors in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP).
Required : Board Certified Internal Medicine and
Required : Licensed in Washington state and
Required within 30 Days: Basic Life Support
Skills
Must be eligible for medical staff privileges on SJMC staff in the department of specialty (Required)
Strong clinical role model and proven leadership skills (Required)
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills (Required)
Knowledge of issues related to anatomic and clinical pathology, hematopathology and dermatopathology (Required)

Working Conditions
Lifting
Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
Bending/ stooping / reaching occasionally.
Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions
Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
Mental/Visual
Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
