DUTIES :
The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of food preparation and limited cooking tasks. This position normally functions in an activity offering less than a full variety of menu items, (for example, snack bar operations).
Performs a variety of tasks such as grilling or frying pancakes, hamburgers, hot dogs, bacon, eggs, sausage, by watching while the items are cooking, turning as required, regulating temperature, and removing when done. Measures and weighs ingredients according to recipes or as directed in the preparation of salads, desserts, juices, fruit trays, etc. Prepares toast, salads, salad dressings, and sandwiches. Prepares vegetables and fruits for serving according to instructions and/or recipes. Places cooked food in serving dishes in steam carts and food trucks. Washes and cleans kitchen equipment and work area. Keeps refrigerators, grills, equipment and working area clean. May be required to collect money, operate a cash register, and prepare necessary documentation for cash funds accountability. May assist in inventory taking.
Cleans equipment in cooking and dining area. Washes dishes, pots, pans, coffee urn, glasses, and flatware. Operates mechanical dishwasher. Maintains water and detergent levels in dishwasher; removes strainer pans, inspection doors, etc., for proper cleaning of dishwasher, inside and out; removes calcium deposits as required; and restores room to orderliness.
Employee is responsible for independently completing work as scheduled after initial oral or written instructions when changes or new assignments are made. Supervisor periodically checks to see that work is done on time and according to instructions.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :
Minimum:
1. Cook experience in a food service facility.
2. Experience with common sanitation standards in handling and serving food.
3. Must be able to follow recipes and combine ingredients for fancy salads and other uncooked dishes.
4. Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate and/or complete food handlers training.
5. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.
Preferred (in addition to minimum):
Two years or more of food service experience.
