Duties: The English Department at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applications for a tenure-track position in Rhetoric & Composition with a specialization and teaching expertise in rhetoric, composition, and professional writing. Candidates will be expected to develop and teach courses in rhetoric and composition, which might include public and scientific writing; cultural rhetorics; and technical writing. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in educational technology for teaching writing, with a focus on emerging technologies, as well as candidates with an interest in administering a large and diverse Writing & Rhetoric program. The appointment will be at the level of assistant professor with an anticipated start date of August 2025.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach first-year writing, general education, and introductory courses as well as advanced undergraduate and graduate offerings in rhetoric and composition. The standard teaching load for this position is 18 credits per year. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of scholarly research leading to publication, effective teaching and mentoring, and service within the college and disciplinary community. Qualifications: Required:• PhD or equivalent in Rhetoric & Composition, or related field, or supply solid indication of imminent completion.

Preferred:• Preference will be given to candidates who can provide a strong plan for active publication and who can demonstrate a record of, or potential for, excellent teaching at the undergraduate level.
