Job Description
Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities:
Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontamination.
Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.
Explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner.
Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Fully understand all of the physicians orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order, ensuring 100% accuracy.
Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature.
Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone inquiries by reading laboratory results.

This is a contract position with a duration of 13 Weekly.
Work Environment
Busy Patient Service Center. This is a fast-paced site, ideal for someone with experience in handling higher volumes.
