Plant Utilities Assistant – One opening is available in Power Plant, Evening shift for a Plant Utilities Assistant. The successful candidate must be able to coordinate and manage the daily operations in the Power Plant.
Job Dudes/Expectations include but not limited to:
Perform work under the direction of a Plant Utilities Engineer to meet facility needs. Performs routine PMS and building inspections as required
Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly records of plant and field operations, work performed, man hours and material used. Assists in the repair, maintenance, and operation of facility Utility Systems. Maintains records and logs accordingly.
Assists in the monitoring and operation of building management or automation systems, and energy management systems related to the control of clocks, lighting, filtering systems, HVAC and boiler energy management systems.
Responds to calls concerning plumbing, electrical and mechanical problems in the field. Utilizes all available resources when responding to emergency situations.
Cleans strainers and coils
Maintains steam straps
Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical related equipment Installs, removes, washes, and stores window air conditioners Snow Removal and Grounds work as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Current GBHC employee in a Plant Utilities Assistant title; or eligible for 70.1 transfer; or reachable on the appropriate civil service list; or eligible for NY HELPS appt.
An associates degree in HVAC; Or One year of full-time hands on experience in the maintenance and operation of commercial, industrial, institutional facility, computer applications of digital energy platforms and building analytics and/or performing diagnosis, repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment; Or One year of full-time hands on experience in a residential setting performing diagnosis, operation, maintenance repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment; Or Completion of an HVAC certificate or diploma from a BOCES program (440 hours) OR completion of an approved certificate in HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, boiler operations and maintenance, or plumbing from an accredited technical school or technology college e Must have and maintain a Valid Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications:
Desire to advance to a PUE-I
Experience in one or more Building Trades, such as Electrical, Plumbing, Painting
