High School diploma or GED w/ (1) yr. paid experience in cleaning or maintenance

Valid NYS Driver’s License

Rate of Pay:

Starting at $18.00 per hour

Duties:

Performing a variety of semi-skilled manual work activities in general cleaning & upkeep repair of grounds

Position Summary: Performs a variety of duties related to the care and cleaning of Arc facilities including both interior and exterior responsibilities of a specific location. Does related work as required. Position may have supervision responsibilities related to individuals’ participation related to maintenance tasks.

Reporting Relationship: Receives general supervision from the Facility Foreman or the Director of Property Management regarding functions and duties.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Gathers and disposes of both interior and exterior refuse.

2. Uses mops, brooms, brushes, buffers, floor scrubbers and other cleaning implements to wash floors, corridors, stairs, and stairwells, walls, partitions, etc. Must operate lawn mowers, edgers and snow removal equipment, including a bobcat.

3. Stripping and waxing of floors, vacuuming and shampooing of carpets.

4. Dusting and cleaning of woodwork, furniture, fixtures, etc. Changes and cleans lights as needed.

5. Ensures bathrooms are clean and sanitary.

7. Moves furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning and care duties.

8. Set-up and removal of furniture or areas due to special program/use.

9. Handles deliveries to the building, including distributing to the right person.

11. Maintains all cleaning equipment and recommends service repair of replacement.

12. Maintains grounds surrounding building where assigned so that such grounds are free from clutter or refuse, cuts grass, trims bushes as needed.

13. Washes windows and other exterior and interior finishes.

14. Maintains all cleaning equipment and reports when repairs are needed.

15 Observes and reports areas both inside and outside of building which are in need of repair or other

maintenance.

16. Required to fill in for evening supervisor as needed.

17. Paints and does minor repairs as needed.

18. Outside duties may require planting and maintenance of flower beds, snow removal or removal of ice build- up. Will be required to report early or on weekends for snow removal or special project to ensure main location is open for operation.

Qualifications and Education Requirements: High School diploma/GED and (1) one year paid experience in cleaning or maintenance experience required.

Human Relations Skills: Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, families, school personnel, consumers and business contacts; demonstrate the ability to serve as an appropriate role model to program participants and co-workers. Receive supervision instruction in a positive manner. Adhere to and administer Agency’s policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.

Equipment Operation: The ability to operate household appliances, such as, washer, dryer, stove, etc.; operate office equipment, such as computer, copier, fax machine, etc. Knowledge of the properties of various cleaning substances, ability to safely use various cleaning equipment and products, Ability to be exposed to dust, dirt and various weather conditions, shovel snow, operate snow blowers and lift heavy objects; ability to use basic power and hand tools.

Good attendance is vital for the efficient and effective operation of quality programming and is an essential job function of this position.

This position NON-EXEMPT from the overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standard Act.
