Main Function:

Achieve optimal performance of the pulmonary function testing lab in accordance with revenue projections and productivity model.

Required Job Specific Competencies:

Participation in activities of the pulmonary function testing labs to include scheduling and performing various pulmonary function tests.

Assist in the development of policies and procedures.

Prepare reports of procedures performed; maintain records and files reflecting patient information, expenditures, revenue and other operational data.

Implement procedures to ensure maintenance and operation of diagnostic equipment within manufacturers specifications and accreditation requirements; document quality control procedures.

Ensure adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and materials.

Coordinate certification programs and continuing education information for the laboratory.

Demonstrates a high degree of skill in all components of respiratory care including: Medicated Aerosol Therapy, Medical Gas Therapy, and Pulmonary Function Testing.

Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy and physiology in all areas that pertain to the practice of Respiratory Therapy.

Understands disease processes and their impact on the cardiopulmonary system.

Possesses a high level of technical skill in equipment operation as related to respiratory care.

Demonstrates the ability to work independently and exhibits flexibility in decision making and prioritizing assignments.

Functions as a team member, relaying clear and concise communication to ensure optimal patient care.

Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all members of the patient care team.

Exhibits leadership skills through active participation in and advocacy of patient’s care needs.

Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.

Contributes to patient outcomes by participating in interdisciplinary processes

Qualifications:

Must be registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care or grandfathered in to the NBRC.

Must be licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by New York State Department of Professions.

Must maintain a current BLS certification.

Required – Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program

Preferred – Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Associate or Bachelor Program

Required Three years’ experience as a Respiratory Therapist or 5 years as a Certified Therapist.

Pay Range: $34.00 – $45.00
