THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking Corrections Community Center Monitors whose primary purpose is to provide care, custody, and control of the re-entrant population housed at the state-operated Progress Community Corrections Center (CCC). DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining the daily activity log, observing re-entrant behavior, and conducting searches for contraband in common areas. You will also manage and inventory re-entrant prescription medications, security equipment, tools, toxic chemicals, and housekeeping supplies. Additionally, you will maintain the sign-in and sign-out register for all re-entrants and visitors, as well as control their movement within the CCC. A key aspect of your position will be conducting new re-entrant orientations, which includes reviewing DOC and CCC policies, rules, and regulations. You will provide information about available public services, make room assignments, and delegate duties. You will also document and monitor re-entrants daily activities and assist in keeping the center inspection ready as directed. The ideal candidate will be sensitive to the needs, concerns, and complaints of the public and crime victims, taking appropriate actions to address them.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $38,348.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
You must be willing and able to work in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania.
This position requires shift work. You must be willing and able to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience).
One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military).
