The Smart Manufacturing leader is responsible for leading a team in developing a comprehensive digital and automation transformation strategy and deploying the strategy across the Westinghouse (WEC) Global Manufacturing base. This function will work closely with WEC technology development and digital SME groups, the Operational and Program Excellence functions, and manufacturing sites to employ technology which will significantly improve safety, quality, and efficiency. Travel will be required for this position.
Your day to day:
Develop a digital and automation strategy for manufacturing which enables business objectives
Translate the strategy to roadmaps
Develop alignment and commitment among stakeholders through building strategic partnerships and collaboration
Give direction to current state assessment and gap/risk identification, target state development, options analysis and alternative evaluation, and business case development
Lead the selection of priorities among the roadmaps and translate to initiatives to be effectively executed with specified owners, stakeholders, deliverables and timeframes
Spearhead the identification of needed investment and technology development and work across organizations to ensure plans and resources are in place to realize results
Provide technical expertise and guidance in sensors and controls engineering, automation, Industry 4.0 technologies, MES and business systems
Give direction and provide a framework for data collection, analysis, contextualization, and visualization
Partner across organizations to develop a methodology for manufacturing process monitoring and visual signals which increase the capability to consistently and effectively produce quality products
Partner across organizations to apply lean tools and techniques to optimize manufacturing processes
Influence and develop corporate standards and principles for change management in consultation with key stakeholders
Build a world-class team; recruit, develop, engage and retain talent
Create, organize, and manage multiple projects and ensure proper use of resources along with ensuring objectives are met on-time
Metrics Accountability – Safety & EHS, Delivery, Quality, Cost, Cost Out, Skills Deployment, Employee Engagement, Corrective Action Completion
What you need to be successful in this role:
Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, information technology or related field
5-10 years of experience leading digital and automation programs in a lean manufacturing environment
Industry 4.0 or similar professional certification preferred. PMI certification is a plus
Exceptional initiative, leadership by influence, collaboration, and communication skills.
Working knowledge and preferably expertise in industrial controls (SCADA, PLCs), digital technology, automation, robotics, machine learning, IIoT, Industry 4.0, data analytics, MES and business systems, Power BI.
Familiarity with industry standards, such as ANSI/ISA-95 and ANSI/ISA-88.
Demonstrated ability to drive improvements and measurable results in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated program management, problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.
