JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Kinesiology, College of Health and Human Development at The Pennsylvania State University (https://hhd.psu.edu/kines) is seeking a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor with expertise in the areas of sport & exercise psychology. This position will begin in Fall 2025 with an expected course load of 9 credits during each, long semester. This is a 36-week full-time, non-tenure line, term faculty appointment, with reappointment expected. The ideal candidate will have prior teaching experience in classes of varying sizes and modalities (in-person, asynchronous, etc.) with specific expertise preferred across the following areas i.e., sport psychology, exercise psychology, psychological/behavioral aspects of physical activity, psychology of athletic injury, and athlete mental health/psychological well-being. An earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Psychology, Educational Psychology, Counseling, or a related area is preferred. Additionally, research experience and a comprehensive understanding of contemporary research in related areas are preferred, but not required.

This position provides the opportunity to join a progressive, multi-disciplinary group of faculty with a scholarly focus on human movement and physical activity, along with a teaching load that provides time for research in shared laboratory space. An interest in Kinesiology from a developmental and lifespan perspective would fit well within both the Department and College. Computer skills, proficiency in public speaking, excellent communication/interpersonal skills, and the ability to mentor undergraduate students are required. Experience with online learning is preferable. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Opportunities exist to augment salary through summer teaching.
