DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a County Social Casework Intern, you will participate in a structed six-month internship program in order to learn the skills and duties necessary to become proficient in the field of casework. You will have the opportunity to work in conjunction with a caseworker to develop and enhance general intake and assessment skills, as well as learn how to navigate recording of intakes, intake investigations, and service planning. You will learn how to best serve and assist clients through building a positive rapport, providing counseling interventions, and being an active and respondent support. You will also advise families of their legal rights and assist with securing legal counsel as necessary. We are looking for someone who possesses the ability to apply relevant laws, regulations, and policies in order to help the children and families achieve an acceptable resolution. Within this role, it is imperative to be able to exercise professional judgement without being judgmental.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Enrollment as a full time student in a bachelors degree program in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related behavioral science, and completion of 75 credits, including completion of 15 credits in one of the listed majors.
Other Requirements:
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Clearfield County. If no eligible candidates who live within Clearfield County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
