Primary Function:
This individual will need to be able to perform a variety of tasks to maintain the proper flow of materials throughout the plant. This position will provide brief relief when applicable for breaks and lunch at operations requiring additional production. Responsibilities include oral and published job instructions, specifications, and prescribed procedures. Detect, rectify as able and report faulty operations, defective materials, or unusual conditions. Observe prescribed safety regulations. Keep count, tallies and records as required. Perform various other related or associated duties as required or directed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Job tasks include but are not limited to:
Performing Tasks in Various departments
Operating a forklift to assist in material handling across all operations when assigned
Interface with barcode equipment and SGV systems
Reroll wrap
Wrap uncured mandrel
Following specifications make quality checks of sheeting, etc.
Relieve a multitude of positions as required.
ERH/Conventional sheet repair
Various mixing responsibilities
Scan rolls into Warehouse management system
Knowledge & Skills
Essential Full Performance Knowledge:
Knowledge of the processing specifications and grading standards will be utilized
Knowledge of the ERH processes, conventional processes, mixing processes, and conversion processes
An understanding of rubber processing technology, statistical process control and all safety systems is required
Essential Full Performance Skills:
Reading – processing specifications, grading standards, SGV and barcode prompts, etc.
Math – keep counts and tallies, calculations of output, number of liners/mandrels, etc.
Writing – record information, email results to supervision, complete work orders and tallies
Communications – receive instructions and feed information to crew leader and off-shift supervision, participate in team problem solving groups
Reasoning skills – be able to recognize flow issues and set priorities to improve process
Complete control charts
Interface with barcode and SGV systems
Operation of measurement gauges
Forklift operation
Equipment/Data:
Equipment Operated: forklift, gantry crane, bridge crane, hoist, scales, SGV, tow motor, calender/strainer, windups at calender and ERH, vulcanizers, shop floor computers, operator panels
Data Used: processing specifications and deviations, productivity information, quality information, barcode and SGV prompts, schedules, written directions, etc.
Materials Used: hot and utility knife, tape measure, thickness gauge, scissors, seam roller
Education & Experience Requirements:
Education: High school diploma
Equivalency: GED
Preferred Experience: At least 1 year of manufacturing experience and willingness to perform several jobs across different areas of the plant
Work Environment/Time Worked:
Work Environment: Activities occur inside a rubber manufacturing facility. Job conditions include, but are not limited to, exposure to the following:
Potential for temperatures exceeding 100°F during the summer
Airborne mica dust
Pinch hazards from moving mechanical parts
Possible burns from hot mandrels
Heavy equipment operation including forklift, bridge crane, hoist, gantry crane, tow motor, etc.
Use of knives during mixing, pre/post cure processes, straining, etc.

Hours Worked:
40 hours per week with mandatory overtime required as production ticket dictates.
Days of the Week Worked:
Monday through Friday with Saturday and/or Sunday overtime required as production ticket dictates.
Shifts Worked:
3 shifts required
(fixed 11pm-7:30am or rotat ng 7am-3:30pm and 3pm-11:30pm)
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:
Climbing up and down steps to get to several pieces of equipment
Balancing when climbing in and around several pieces of equipment
Stooping, kneeling, crouching while operating several pieces of equipment
Reaching to thread sheeting, pull rubber off mills, service and guide mandrels, etc.
Standing while operating equipment, inspecting sheeting, straining
Walking throughout the plant
Pushing and pulling sheeting, finished rolls, mandrels, buttons, etc.
Lifting sheeting (straining, whale tails, pigs of defective/rework materials, rolls, etc.), skids
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Grasping knives on mills and pre/post cure stands, sheeting, tools, etc.
Talking – communicating with team members, using telephone and intercom
Hearing – use of telephone and intercom, communicating with team members, listening to equipment for faulty operation
Sight – recognize hazards, warnings, visually inspect defects, read displays, operate mills
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
