Head Start is a comprehensive preschool program for low-income children ages birth through five year olds. It provides children with a developmentally appropriate early childhood education.
The job of Head Start Program Instructor was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
Minimum requirements:
– Associates degree in Early Childhood Education;
– Bachelors Degree & PDE Early Childhood Certification preferred
– Experience with pre-school population desired
– Knowledge in Early Literacy
– Ability to work with a culturally diverse population
– Able to work at centers within Delaware County
– Able to work within a team concept
– Excellent oral and written communication skills
– Able to frequently lift twenty pounds
– Basic computer skills
