Job Title: Phlebotomist – Manassas, VA
Job Description:
The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities: The candidate will perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate areas, and update patient information. Responsibilities include collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, explaining the venipuncture process and other specimen collections (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear and courteous manner, and demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
The candidate must fully understand all physicians orders, match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order, and ensure 100% accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts. Additional duties include packaging specimens for transport, storing specimen samples at the required temperature, placing samples in the appropriate collection container/tube, accurately labeling, and following specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport. The candidate must also understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend annual department trainings, answer telephone calls, and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Work Site:
This is a fully on-site position in Manassas, Virginia.
Work Environment:
The candidate will be working at both the IOP (Manassas, VA) and PSC locations. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM at the IOP address in Manassas, VA. There is also a rotating Saturday shift from 7 AM to 11 PM.
