Description
SAIC has an opportunity for a Configuration Management Specialist in Beltsville, MD! It is hybrid and requires 3 days/week onsite.
Position Description:
Support existing processes and procedures for maintaining hardware and software version control, network equipment baselines and network configurations for operational and spare systems within Diplomatic Technology (DT) supported systems. Utilize configuration management tools and databases to ensure all attributes of trunks, circuits and networks connections are properly tracked and documented.
Description of Duties:
Monitoring and controlling equipment and software configuration baselines to maintain accuracy and consistency.
Monitor and control documentation libraries.
Manage the change control process to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of data and ensure changes are in accordance with approved procedures.
Reports on the impact of changes to the baseline configuration, and serves as an advocate of change control.
Responsible for maintaining and enforcing a structured documented CM process.
Perform system level configuration identification, configuration control, release, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits.
Actively propose and drive improvement of work routines concerning configuration management including support tools and systems.
Represent the interests of configuration management with project management and the customer.
Participate in the complete project life cycle methodology with project managers, task leads, and designers while still protecting the central principles of configuration management and control.
Develops initial technical installation guidelines and other documentation of hardware and software standards to facilitate tracking. Assists customers and support personnel in understanding product configuration.
Assists lead personnel for assigned accounts/regions.
Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
6 years of configuration analysis and systems administration experience.
Experience working with distributed computer systems, software and associated communication networks.
Experience working with networking principles and local area networks.
Experience working with company software and hardware products.
Be familiar with ISO-9001 and 20000, Software Capability Maturity Model (CMM), Software Acquisition Capability Maturity Model and ITIL.
Possess comprehensive knowledge of the configuration management (CM) discipline.
Required Clearance:
US Citizenship.
Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.
Desired Experience/Skills/Attributes:
Prior Department of State experience.
Recent training in the area of configuration management disciplines.
ITIL Intermediate certification.
Target salary range: $80,001 – $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
