Job Title: Certified Phlebotomist
Job Description
Summary: The main function of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities: You will perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and handle decontamination processes. You will also update patient information, collect and store specimens according to established procedures, and clearly explain the venipuncture process to patients in a courteous manner. You will demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles and fully understand all physicians orders. Matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, you will label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. You will ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are 100% correct, package specimens for transport, and store specimen samples according to required temperatures. Adherence to OSHA and DEP regulations is mandatory. You will attend annual department training sessions and handle telephone inquiries by reading laboratory results.
