Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR in the NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS BRANCH of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO. Responsibilities You will serve as the section head, chief enforcement official, and lead conservation law enforcement investigator for MCB Quantico. You will perform the overall work planning, establish work schedules and priorities, and assign and review work. You will, initiate, plan, direct, supervise, and conduct criminal investigations of persons/parties who are suspected of offenses of the criminal laws of the United States with a focus on laws pertaining to fish, wildlife, and cultural resources. You will provide law enforcement expertise to Headquarters Marine Corps and assist with developing Marine Corps policies and procedures, coordinating officer training, and issuing ammunition and weapons across the Marine Corps. You will conduct the full range of difficult and complex law enforcement activities, which involve the most sensitive and discrete handling of cases. You will coordinate directly with Federal, State, and local law enforcement authorities and with other organizations within and external to the Installation to execute complex law enforcement operations. You will apprehend, arrest, or detain all subjects suspected of violations of Federal, State, and local laws. You will account for outdoor recreational users and lead search and rescue missions as needed. You will support outdoor recreation programs authorized by Sikes Act Improvement Act. You will be responsible for long-range investigations and assume responsibility for providing technical guidance and direction to other assisting agencies. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting a full range of complex law enforcement activities involving fish, wildlife, and cultural resources; AND having knowledge of methods and procedures to conduct complex investigations. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires rotating shift work. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. The position often requires irregular hours. This position is covered by Law Enforcement Officer 6c Retirement benefits. This position may be eligible for Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP), Must meet requirements set forth in the LEAP Act of 1994. Annually, Criminal Investigators must work an average of 2 hours of unscheduled duty in excess of each regular workday to be eligible for LEAP, which is 25% of the annual base pay.
