Grounds/ General Maintenance Technician

Amentum is seeking a Grounds/General Maintenance Candidate to support a Facilities O&M Services Contract. The Grounds/General Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing day-to day support for all facilities under O&M operations. Will perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and building structures requiring practical skill and knowledge but not necessarily an expert in each trade craft area. Grounds/General Maintenance typically supports M-F from 06:30 AM to 3:30 and have competency for the following:

Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.

Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.

Comply with all site policies and procedures.

Follow IBC and NFPA codes when applicable.

Responsible for painting structures and equipment, basic carpentry, basic plumbing, general masonry/concrete repairs, sheetrock repairs, hanging various items on walls in offices, heavy grounds maintenance.

Repairing/ Replacing sinks, toilets, door locks, door closures, carpet tiles, floor tiles, ceiling tiles, door trim, doors, cove base, general wood/metal furniture, broken window panes.

Perform jobs/tasks in outside unconditioned environment working in the extreme hot and humid weather.

Perform grounds maintenance such as: mowing, edging, blowing, weed eating, pruning, yard debris collection, road grading, pot hole repairs, cleaning out storm water drains, pressure washing, gutters, and at times pesticide/ herbicide application.

Follow instructions to detail for the task at hand from the O&M supervisor.

Execute generated workorders from site’s computer maintenance management system (CMMS).

Making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of job/task to be performed.

Selecting appropriate materials necessary for the task at hand following.

Repairs various substrates such as: metal, concrete siding, vinyl siding, sheetrock, wood, etc.

Provide verbal feedback or detailed report to the O&M supervisor daily.

Prepare and submit detailed purchase requests for taskings assigned from the O&M and CM Supervisors.

Assist with maintaining shop inventory for day to day used items for taskings.

Responsible for maintaining and cleaning government issued items and/or property.

Perform other duties and activities as directed such as but not limited: moving furniture, furniture assemblies, furniture set ups for outside events, and working with other trades to complete general task(s) at hand.

Able to obtain and maintain a forklift certification.

Able to work in areas of height of boom, scissor, and or man basket

Able to obtain and maintain certification for fall protection.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to Obtain and Maintain a TS/SCI Clearance

H.S. diploma or equivalent.

3 yrs. Experience performing similar duties.

Provide applicable certifications.

Computer literacy to navigate online required training, time keeping, and email.

A valid Drivers license form applicants home state is required.

Heavy equipment experience/ certifications (can be waived).

Additional Duties:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Being fit for duty.

Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly or as needed performing various assigned task.

Ability to do the following for extended periods of time: stoop, bend, kneel, reach, twist, and carry.

Ability to stand 8-10 hrs. per day.

Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and have flexibility to move from one task to the next or work multiple tasks simultaneously.

Be able to work in a team environment.

Be a problem solver or solution maker.

Reasoning ability.

Can define problems and collect data while establishing facts to draw valid conclusions.

Good customer service skills.

Self-starter and motivated to perform at high level.
