The Job:
Stanley Black & Decker is currently seeking a Senior Public Relations (PR) Manager to support its Tools & Outdoor (T&O) division. This position will report to the Director of Public Relations and primarily support the DEWALT brand with an opportunity to take on additional projects related to other global brands in the T&O portfolio including CRAFTSMAN and STANLEY.
Successfully working with the DEWALT brand will require deep knowledge and understanding of trades professionals, the construction industry, DEWALT’s innovative tools and technology offerings as well as key topics like the future trades workforce, safety and training, and jobsite productivity.
As a Senior Public Relations Manager, you will be a hybrid employee in Towson, MD. You’ll get to:
Research, write and review news releases, media alerts, bylined articles, fact sheets, white papers, etc.
Proactively present creative PR initiatives and lead execution of broad campaigns with support and collaboration among several internal stakeholders
Prepare and submit entries for all potential product reviews / awards
Work in collaboration with global brand and regional marketing teams, as well as other stakeholders including internal communications, government relations, commercial teams, and corporate communications to amplify PR activities and results
Plan in-person and virtual SBD-owned events and manage execution with cross-functional teams throughout the organization
Ideate and execute a 12-month PR plan
Lead ideation and strategic development of story angles beyond product placement with an emphasis on brand storytelling
Pitch story ideas and serve as “the” resource to media contacts in our space
Support the planning and execution of third-party media events, trade shows, editor briefings, etc.
Respond to media inquiries and maintain strong relationships with media, particularly trade media
Manage product requests and product trade-out agreements; filter requests to ensure applicable audiences and investments
Coordinate media interviews with internal thought leaders
Lead and conduct media training within the organization, creating briefing documents as necessary
Maintain online newsrooms and prepare media kits as needed
Liaise with global counterparts to ensure international campaign alignment and best practices
Support issues communications
Manage measurement/reporting analytics: measure effectiveness of campaigns, set goals and manage results vs goals on a monthly / quarterly / annual basis
Manage vendor relationships and budgets
Work closely with corporate PR team and support applicable corporate PR initiatives
Keep informed of pertinent industry news
The Person:

BA/BS Required; Public Relations, Communications and/or Journalism
7 years of work experience in Public Relations, Marketing; agency experience a plus
Working in a B2B and/or B2C environment
Baseline knowledge of construction and the trades is a bonus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
Knowledge of Cision, PRNewsWire, Notified, Meltwater or other monitoring and distribution services
Previous experience working with influencers and/or high visibility campaigns
Strong oral and written communication skills, and experience with Media Relations
Self-starter with proven track record of success in Public Relations
Understanding and interpreting highly technical products into simplified terms
15-20% travel expected

The base pay range for this position in Maryland is $74,000-$133,000 per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
