GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for the management of Respiratory Services in compliance with related local, state and federal regulations. Sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures competent delivery of all respiratory care procedures.
Maintain accurate and complete documentation of respiratory care services and department operations
Verify respiratory care physicians orders and document appropriately in the plan of care. Make recommendations for changes or modifications to patient regarding respiratory therapy care.
Perform clinical assessments and maintain a working knowledge of respiratory care instruments, equipment and care procedures (i.e. airway management, CPR, mechanical ventilation, blood gas collection). Perform troubleshooting with appropriate problem resolution.
Maintains effective communication with staff and physician while maintaining patient confidentiality
Follows health, safety, security, hazardous materials and infection control policies and procedures
Educate staff on respiratory therapy policies and procedures
Attend educational seminars regarding respiratory therapy to best understand new practices and continue to be an expert in these areas and maintain RRT certification.
Make recommendations for process improvement.
Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISES: N/A
EDUCATION: Position requires a certification and licensure from an accredited school of respiratory care as required for registry by National Board of Respiratory Care (CRT or RRT).
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Able to effectively communicate and listen to families, residents, and staff.
Must be knowledgeable of respiratory and general medical practice and procedures as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care operations.
Be compassionate, friendly, kind, and understanding of the needs of the elderly.
Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents personnel, families, and support agencies.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide range of people.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Flexibility in managing schedule including weekends and evening hours.
Valid Ohio drivers license, access to reliable insured transportation and ability to meet LSS insurance standards required
