Position Description

Candidates with attention to detail and good dexterity for the position of industrial painter. Industrial painters are responsible for maintaining technical equipment for the job and ensuring that they are in working order and prepping previously painted surfaces among other duties. Industrial painters will need to operate heavy machinery, requiring stamina and physical strength.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

– Maintaining technical equipment for the job and ensuring that they are in working order.
– Safely disposing of chemical waste.
– Ensuring that high safety standards are met.
– Utilizing different painting techniques based on the nature of the surface.
– Utilizing special safety equipment.
– Using viscosity cups and thickness gauges to measure the amount of paint to be used and the texture of the paint.
– Ensuring proper ventilation.
– Cleaning surfaces prior to layering paint.

 

Physical Capabilities

·        Manual Dexterity: Ability to perform tasks that require a steady hand and excellent hand-eye coordination. This includes the ability to hold a paint brush steady for

long periods, make straight lines, and fill in small areas without smudges or drips.

·        Strength and Stamina: Ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds, such as ladders and 5-gallon buckets of paint. Stamina to stand, climb, or crouch for

extended periods, often more than 8 hours a day.

·        Balance: Ability to maintain balance when standing on a ladder or scaffolding at varying heights, often above 10 feet. This includes the ability to reach, bend, and twist

while maintaining balance.

·        Vision: Ability to distinguish and match colors with precision. This includes the ability to see fine details when painting and to recognize when a painted surface is fully

covered.

·        Physical Health: Ability to work while wearing a respirator or other protective equipment for extended periods. This includes being able to perform physical tasks in

environments where paint fumes or dust may be present.

·        Flexibility: Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and /or legs. This includes being able to paint in tight spaces, such as behind radiators or in small

bathrooms, and being able to reach high places such as ceilings or tall walls.

Position Requirements

– High school diploma or GED.
– Experience painting a variety of surface types.
– Proficiency with technical machinery.
– Ability to operate machinery.
– Diligence and attention to detail.
– Excellent dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
– Good organizational skills.
– Good verbal communication.
