Job Specifics:
Efficiently operate low pressure steam and hot water generating equipment so that the proper pressure and amounts of steam are maintained to satisfy Ensure that all operations meet the state and local operating codes and requirements.
Monitor gauges on boilers and auxiliary equipment to determine that they are operating properly, safely, and efficiently regarding pressure, water levels, temperature,, flow, and make necessary adjustments/repairs/maintenance.
Execute switches to different fuels, for example from natural gas to oil and vice versa at the request of the gas company to avoid penalty payments for unauthorized use of natural gas.
Take water tests to determine the amount of blow down and proper amounts of chemicals to add to maintain proper chemistry.
Maintain Heating Plant in a neat, clean and orderly
Keep daily logs and records of amount of steam usage, fuel consumption, water consumption, and equipment readings as directed or required for state and local
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid drivers license
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, read and interpret sketches, diagrams and blueprints.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the mechanical systems and the necessary safety precautions. ”
Knowledge of the principles of state heating and ventilating codes, steam-fitting code, OSHA and computerized HVAC control systems.
Knowledge of procedures and practices for building HVAC systems, system installation methods, operation procedures, and HVAC system control strategies, and the materials and equipment utilized in the processes.
Skilled in the use and care of tools and equipment of the mechanical
Must be able to work
Must be able to physically access boiler inspection
Basic understanding of E-mail, scheduling and computer monitoring
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Minnesota Boiler License-Class 2C, 1C, or Chief C required. Steam Engineers License of the class required by law
