The Opportunity

Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for a Senior Software Test Engineer. This position can be based in our Lake Forest, IL office. The primary function of this position is to represent test engineering throughout the Software Development Lifecycle. Position contributes to both the product development but also to the SDLC Agile process. Position includes mentoring junior members of the team and ensuring the correct procedures and processes are being followed for both software quality and compliance.

What you’ll work on

Complete software testing and activities for development user stories within an Agile SDLC process

Review System Specifications/Requirements documents, user stories and create verification test cases (based on those requirements) and execute test cases.

Investigate and report unexpected events, issues or software bugs. Verify fixes

Perform exploratory testing, system level end to end testing, develop test datasets and execute automation scripts (to ensure application software releases are of high quality)

Create verification and validation test plans, test reports, trace matrices and review with relevant stakeholders (dev and quality)

Review deliverables/activities as identified in the test plans for accuracy, consistency, completeness and compliance. Ensure adequate test coverage for every release

Review code diff analysis and develop robust regression test strategy

Mentor and provide day to day guidance to the junior members of the software test team. Review work to ensure compliance and quality

Provide feedback and suggest improvements to the Agile SDLC process

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

5 years of related work experience.

2 years of Software Quality Assurance in a regulated industry is required.

Moderate knowledge of Agile methodologies.

Moderate level of understanding of test-driven methodologies.

Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related engineering field.

Moderate level of knowledge with continuous integration & continuous development (CI/CD).

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
