Summary
Maintains medical center facilities by performing general maintenance and repair tasks that require general knowledge, but not proficiency, in carpentry, painting, roofing, heating and ventilation, lighting, plumbing, electrical, furniture and equipment repair. (The function of a maintenance mechanics is to perform a large number of various building maintenance tasks that can each usually be accomplished in 30 minutes or less. Tasks of longer duration or those requiring special skill or proficiency are generally referred to a specific maintenance trade.) The lead maintenance mechanic is frequently assigned to identify, assess and prioritize the more complex problems for correction by the appropriate tradesman and regularly performs administrative and supervisory tasks to assist the manager.
Provides timely and proper response to assigned service calls and work orders to maintain a safe and efficient facility environment.
Typical tasks include, but are not limited to: Replacing light bulbs. Repairing, adjusting or removing, reinstalling doors / door hardware.
Providing first response on automatic doorcomplaints.
Repairing or replacing windows and screens. Caulking, insulating, and drywall patches.
Properly sealing pipe, conduit and duct penetrations in fire and smoke partitions.
Replacing suspended ceiling tile and grid. Hanging shelves, brackets, pictures, drapery hardware, etc. Repairing minor roof leaks .Unclogging toilet or drain with plunger.
Assembling or repairing modular furniture, desks, file cabinets, etc. Repairing hospital beds, wheel chairs, carts, etc. Replacing floor tile, carpet, or similar floor coverings.
Assisting the manager with documenting work and ordering tools, supplies and material.
Assisting the manager with selecting, coordinating, and evaluating contractor services used to supplement the in-house work force.
