Summary of Responsibilities:
The Director of Product Management – Outdoor Power Equipment will own, manage and direct Chervon North America’s products and solutions in identified market segments to drive new sales and customer retention.
The Director is responsible for leading the front-end product development and product management for both Chervon brands and private label brands owned or managed by our retail partners. Your direct team includes product managers, engineers, and UX researchers. Using our strategic initiatives as your guide, you will coach and mentor the product management team in building product roadmaps, managing their portfolios, and defining new products that deliver exceptional value for our customers and end users. You and the product managers also play an important customer-facing role which includes supporting our sales and marketing teams, from major trade shows to line reviews, with our key accounts. The Director of Product Management also owns the innovation pipeline and front-end product development, translating user insights and market opportunities into actionable concepts.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Support key elements of strategy development including opportunity identification/sizing, segmentation, competitive analysis, product positioning, and technology assessment
Drive a product roadmap and innovation pipeline that are tied closely to strategic objectives and quantified market opportunities
Support your team in developing and gaining approval of comprehensive business cases and product requirements/specs
Support the brand and account teams in presenting new product launches at key customer meetings and events
Work with Marketing to develop sales enablement assets that help sales teams understand categories, users, value propositions, and key differentiating features
Work with Channel Marketing and Operations to ensure smooth product transitions and effective life cycle management
Together with your team, serve as the subject matter experts in outdoor power equipment and cordless technology
Develop, coach, and mentor your team
Oversee the departmental budget, costs, and expenditures
Required Education and Experience:
5 years of product management experience
10 years of experience working in the development and/or management of durable goods
5 years of experience in roles with multiple direct reports with demonstrated success in leading and growing a high-performing team
Demonstrated success in driving go-to-market strategy and effective strategy deployment
Demonstrated ability to influence and drive consensus across departments and regions
Prior experience working with global cross-functional teams across time zones
Willingness and ability to effectively demonstrate and use outdoor power equipment with confidence
MBA or equivalent preferred, BA/BS required
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will supervise front-end product engineers, UX researchers, and product managers.
Travel:
This position requires approximately 20% travel; some international.
Work Environment:
This job operates in professional office, retail, and outdoor environments as well as virtually. Expect to work 3-5 days/week in the office and 0-2 days/week virtually when not traveling.
