job summary:

A Research Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Mossville, IL area. The Research Engineer will design, develop, test, and optimize mechanical devices, focusing on fuel systems for diesel engines, while collaborating with internal teams and suppliers, utilizing hands-on problem-solving and CAD skills.

work hours: 8am to 4pm

responsibilities:

Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices.

Analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to assess project time and cost feasibility.

Investigate equipment failures to diagnose operational issues and provide recommendations to the maintenance team.

Assist drafters in developing product designs using tools, equipment, or software.

Design support for components and assemblies, creating models and drawings in Creo.

Document components with microscope imaging and part measurement.

Assemble and test components.

Collaborate with internal and external suppliers.

Skills:

Experience with engineering software and Computer-Aided Design (CAD).

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and reports.

Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

Experience with hands-on work using tools, measurement, and test equipment.

Desired Skills:

Experience in engine or fuel system design and development.

Basic familiarity with statistics and data analysis.

Knowledge of Creo modeling and Creo Simulate software.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in STEM (Mechanical Engineering preferred).

2-4 years of relevant experience.
