Type of Position: Part-time Temporary, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Varies depending on department needs,
12 hours per week

Pay Range: $15.95-$20.31 and determined based on relevant years of
work experience.

Position Summary: Tutor students through a variety of modalities and
methods, refer students to other relevant resources, and assist with
daily activities in the relevant resource center for Johnson County
Community College (JCCC). This position provides tutoring for students
taking Game Development classes. Position will be located on the main
campus, up to 12 hours per week.

Required Qualifications:

– High School diploma, plus completion of 1-year relevant Game
Development collegiate coursework
– Good communication skills, including listening with understanding
and patience
– Ability to explain concepts, both orally and in written form in a
one-to-one or small group setting
– Ability to work alone and as part of a team and to communicate
effectively with students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders
– Ability to manage appointments and record data using appropriate
software and processes
– Ability to make learning interactive, with the focus of the sessions
determined by student questions and comments
– Skilled Unity User
– Basic vector math skills
– Competent C# programmer

Preferred Qualifications:

– Experience training and/or teaching with an ability to break skills
into simple-to-understand pieces
– Game Development industry work experience – commercial and/or
independent
– High vector math skills
– Expert C# programmer

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

– Tutor students through drop-in, by-appointment, and/or semester-long
tutoring (online and/or in-person) in subjects, skills, or content
deemed appropriate by the relevant supervisor; build rapport and
supportive relationships with students.
– Refer students to appropriate resources within the relevant resource
center and larger Academic Resource Center.
– Refer students to appropriate resources outside the relevant
resource center/Academic Resource Center with consultation/direction
from the relevant supervisor.
– Maintain accurate and detailed records, adhering to the Family
Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and keeping appropriate
staff updated on student progress and problems.
– Assist in the daily activities of the center, cover the front desk
when needed, ensure students are checked in/out, and help maintain a
positive, clean, and organized center space.
– Assist students with computer systems/software and help students
troubleshoot computer problems as they impact tutoring operations.
– Use the appropriate scheduling system to manage and maintain
tutoring schedules.
– Participate in mandatory center training and other campus-wide
training opportunities as appropriate.
