Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a NIMA Business
Development Officer for the Division of Economic Development and
Community Engagement to be responsible for the identification,
cultivation, and solicitation of prospective business/industries to
utilize NIMA services. This position will support NIMAs business
development team with projects, contacts and client development for
projects within NIMA and Public Policy.
Duties and Responsibilities of Position
50% – Business Development Team Support:
– Oversee and manage specific projects within NIMA (National Institute
for Materials Advancement) and Public Policy, ensuring they are
executed efficiently and effectively.
– Build and maintain relationships with key business contacts and
clients. This includes initiating and nurturing partnerships,
tracking engagement, and following up on potential leads.
– Plan and schedule meetings with business contacts, coordinating
logistics such as dates, times, venues, and agendas.
– Provide support and troubleshoot issues related to business
development operations within NIMA. This could involve handling
tasks, resolving operational challenges, and ensuring that the team
has the necessary resources and information.
20% – Coordinate Meetings and Develop Briefing Materials:
– Collaborate with scientists and leadership to organize and
facilitate meetings. This includes preparing agendas, coordinating
participants, and managing meeting logistics.
– Take detailed notes during meetings, develop comprehensive action
plans based on discussions, and ensure follow-up on action items.
– Create and prepare briefing materials such as reports,
presentations, and written proposals. These materials should clearly
outline key points and support the pursuit of new opportunities for
NIMA.
15% – Identify and Screen Business Opportunities:
– Work with your supervisor and the business development team to
identify potential business opportunities that align with NIMAs
goals and objectives. This includes researching industry trends,
evaluating market potential, and assessing the feasibility of
opportunities.
– Develop criteria for rating and screening opportunities to
prioritize those with the highest potential. This involves analyzing
data, conducting risk assessments, and providing recommendations
based on your findings.
– Collect, organize, and distribute relevant information about
business opportunities to the NIMA team and other stakeholders.
Facilitate communication between NIMA and existing or potential
business partners, ensuring timely and accurate exchange of
information.
10% – Monitor Legislative Topics:
– Work closely with the Government Relations team to stay updated on
legislative topics and developments that impact NIMA and the
University.
– Analyze how legislative changes or proposed bills could affect NIMAs
operations and strategic objectives. Prepare reports or briefings to
inform the team and stakeholders of relevant legislative
developments.
5% – Other duties as assigned
