The National Institute for Materials Advancement (NIMA) at Pittsburg
State University is searching for a Student Research Manager to manage
all the student research activities, including advising and helping
write research articles; provide lab maintenance, follow safety rules,
provide training to students, keep detailed records in a lab notebook,
maintain routine calibration to instruments, manage chemical waste,
write manuscripts based on the results; and assist with proposal writing
for external funding. .

Duties and Responsibilities

50%-Project Management:

– Oversee and manage all student research activities within the lab.
– Coordinate and allocate resources for various research projects.
– Ensure projects are progressing according to timelines and
objectives.

25%- Student Advising and Support:

– Advise students on research methodologies, experimental design, and
data analysis.
– Provide guidance and support to students in the development of their
research skills.
– Help students write manuscripts/reports/ thesis based on specific
research data.
– Foster a collaborative and productive research environment.

15% – Laboratory and Technical Management

– Perform routine maintenance of scientific instruments and upkeep of
analytical and testing laboratories.
– Mentor students for analytical training.
– Manage booths at conferences and trade shows
– Participate in recruitment events
– Serve on committees

10% – Other duties as assigned
