Job Summary:

The position is responsible for operating and programming the Zeiss CMM. The individual will work with other inspectors to perform Receiving, In-process and Final Inspection of mechanical and other components and assemblies. The individual will be expected to train and assist others in the programming and operation of the CMM and will perform the calibration of RPO equipment.

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

Program (Calypso) and Operate Zeiss CMM to evaluate mechanical and other parts

Use the CMM and other standard tools to evaluate mechanical and other parts for acceptance

Perform Receiving, In-Process and Final Inspection of mechanical and other parts

Perform First Article and PPAP and other Inspections

Assist in the specification and design of CMM fixtures

Perform calibration on various RPO measuring equipment

Additional Requirements:

CMM operating and programming experience

Ability to use hand measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, drop gages, thread gages, etc.

Mechanical part inspection experience (Open Plate Layout)

Hand Tool calibration experience

Ability to work with a great deal of independence

Good team player

Ability to train co-workers on inspection and CMM operations

Serve as a backup to lead CMM programmer when needs dictate.

Requirements and Competencies:

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret part drawings, specifications and standards. Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as algebra, geometry and trigonometry.

Educational Requirements:

High School diploma or GED required.

AAS or AS in technical area preferred.

3 -5 years of hands-on experience with CMM equipment, Calypso and mechanical inspection within a manufacturing environment.

Work Requirements:

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand: use hands to fingers, handle or feel: and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.

The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)

Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

The employee is frequently required to use the computer.

Work Environment:

May involve the use of oils and solvents.

Subject to some soilage and irritation from cleaning solutions. (Lab Coats provided)

Generally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.

Safety Glasses are required

May require area specific safety training

This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne paper particles.

May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.
