Post Doctoral Associate – Ban Laboratory Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science – Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh – 24007931

Required Educational Background: Applicant must have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. They should have three years of research experience in inductive coupling, nuclear engineering, and electrodynamics.

Required Skillset: For the research component of the position, the required skillset includes Experimental, analytical, and computational research in inductive coupling applications in high temperatures and radioactive environments; Practical experience in developing wireless inductive coupling systems and linear variable differential transformers LVDT; Proficiency in Python, Matlab, and Finite Element Method.

In addition to conducting research, your duties may also include preparing reports, performing literature reviews, supervising graduate and undergraduate students, and assisting with other projects in the laboratory.

Other required skill sets include Good verbal and written communication skills, the Ability to work both independently and within a team structure, delivering project components on given time schedules, and the Ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities: The research-related responsibilities of this position will include Mentoring graduate students; Writing journal publications; preparing reports that summarize the work conducted for progress reports to funding agencies; Planning, developing, and implementing technical and scientific research programs; Contributing to proposal writing and acquisition of preliminary data.
